How to choose a bird?
To ensure that pigeon breeding at home is beneficial, make sure that young individuals are high-quality, disease-free and appropriate to the claimed breed. To do this, first learn the breed information, consult with experienced poultry breeders. Outside, the bird must be, first of all, clean, with an even plumage, without visible defects( lameness, excessive lethargy, sticking out the pen). It is also necessary to uncover the bird's wing and inspect it for the presence of "holes".If they are, the pigeon is clearly a feather parasite( mite).
Birds can also suffer from lice. For this purpose, usually inspect the area under the tail and the beak - they should be even and homogeneous color. If you choose sports pets, learn the quality of their flight, the manner of staying in the air. Naturally, pigeons are always bought in pairs, as if the already chosen partner in the bird has much higher productivity. The highest purchase price will be in the spring, and the cheapest - in the fall.
Reproduction of domestic feathers usually begins at the very beginning of spring, and for this purpose specially prepared aviary dandelions. The room is cleaned, washed and dried. After that, special spatulas or ready-made wooden boxes with small sides are installed. These boxes at the corners are filled with gypsum and fine sawdust. It is there that the pigeon offspring hatches.
Birds breed in several ways: random pairing, inbreeding( related pairing), linear method, and also the pairing of unrelated pigeons and just similar to the outside. The random reproduction method usually predominates in nature, but other methods are more often used to produce a beautiful, strong and healthy offspring without defects. When the female is covered, she is looking for material for the nest, and your task is to give her small branches, fluff, remnants of feathers and woolen threads.
Sowing offspring is done together by the male and female, they alternate so that the partner can rest, eat and fly. On average, the whole period of hatching is a month. Usually dove do not bother while sitting on the nest, and check the condition of the eggs when the birds are not in place. The total number of cages per year - about three, the number of eggs - no more than two pieces per masonry.
If you plant pigeons at home for sale( for a tribe or for meat), make sure the pigeon is as clean as possible. In our time, it is not uncommon that birds contain without registration IP, this is already a private matter of the breeder. But if your business is large, then you will need a sanitary permit. Pigeons are considered to be bird-scavengers, spreading many types of dangerous viruses, including loud bird flu.
Based on this, it will not be superfluous to visit the health authorities at your place of residence and find out what needs to be done to legally include pigeons in the private sector. The total cost of such a permit in is about 20 thousand rubles. In addition, each bird needs a veterinary conclusion - its cost is about 200 rubles per head of the bird.
If you plant meat doves, you also need a third document - a certificate of quality( according to the GOST system). It will cost about 5 thousand rubles. Next, watch a video of a new and beautiful pigeon, built with his own hands, in which the birds are first launched.

At home, the use of special iron cages or wooden enclosures for placement of pigeons, which are placed inside a dwarf room, are used. This may be an area enclosed by a large grid or a separate structure that looks like a garage or a shed. Each bird should have the opportunity to be in their personal box. Also, consider where you will evict sick or weak birds, so that they are not made by relatives.
The cell for one pigeon can have dimensions of about 20 cm in height and 40 cm in width. In depth, you need to make it so that the bird can fit freely there with folded wings. For each cell, you will have a seat hinge. Cells or cells should be cleaned regularly, if necessary, treated with parasites. At least twice a year, the dwarf should undergo radical cleansing and disinfection( necessarily in the early spring until the emergence of chicks and late autumn).
In severe winters, be sure to pre-insulate the room, so your feather friends will be much less sick and will not lose weight. Take care that the Breads receive a moderate amount of light, but not its excess - the pigeons like a cozy twilight.
When the room issue is resolved, it's time to think about feeding. Now there are a lot of specialized feed mixes and vitamin-enriched mixtures. In the winter, it's best to give them doves. The basis of the diet of these feathers should consist of barley, vegetables and fruits, in particular, potatoes, carrots, apples. It is possible and it is necessary to add in small quantities to feed chalk, sand, peeled turtle or shell of eggs.
The average daily intake of feed per adult poultry is 50 grams. If pigeons are fed to meat, be sure to enter in their diet peas, eggs, various natural fats. In winter, the nutrition rate increases so that the pupils are not frozen. Water at any time of the year should change every day, be fresh.
To strengthen the immunity of poultry, you can give them herbal decoctions( chamomile, herd, thyme).Meat pigeons are fattened for at least 10 days, and then clog up when they are 28 to 35 days old. Next, watch a video on how to eat a feather in a dove.
The content of pigeons in winter should be as comfortable as possible and protected from colds. The dove should be warmed up. Birds emit enough heat, but no natural heat can protect them from permanent cold weather in the winter. Use insulation foam or drywall, mineral wool or OSB sheets as insulation of cells. The next video about the content of birds in winter in a special insulated big cage.
In the summer, it is better to keep bayonets in fenced areas separated from the rest of the yard by gratings. Be sure to equip the flying window so birds can land after the flight. The euthanasia is the easiest - birds from dawn and till 4-5 o'clock in the evening, they walk and fly, returning to their native courtyard, after which the sun sets for sleep. In the summer, the most important thing is to change the water in the pigeons in time and clean the cells from the litter. Next, we suggest you familiarize yourself with the video of the annual maintenance of pigeons.
